'To Bring Light Into the Dark' by Rose Blake
We first worked with Rose at the Brighton Illustration Fair and are delighted to be able to print for her once again. This print, entitled 'To Bring Light Into the Dark' is inspired by a mutual appreciation of David Byrne. The text, taken from a song called 'The Call of the Wild' reads:
'Albert Einstein wrote equations
God told Noah "Build an ark"
Johnny Mathis sings Cole Porter
To bring light into the dark'.
This print is exclusive to The Private Press 'Editions' series.
Rose: "I met Gary from The Private Press at the BIF illustration fair earlier this year, where he was live screen-printing a drawing I had done. We realised that we shared a huge appreciation of David Byrne, to almost nerdy levels, and talked about making a DB inspired print together. Editions seemed like the perfect excuse to do it!"
Rose has worked extensively within the world of illustration. Her work has a charming and emotive quality, which can be seen in both her regular editorial work for clients like The New York Times, The Guardian and The Sunday Times, as well as for clients including Google, Stella McCartney, the V&A and many more.
