Sophy: “The Bestiary was an illuminated encyclopedia of animals, both real and imagined, that became very popular in medieval Europe. It brought the creatures to life before the reader’s eyes at a time when most Europeans couldn’t begin to imagine what an elephant might look like, let alone a chimera. We all share a studio together and thought it would be fun to create our own mini bestiary of imagined creatures.”
