A - Z series of prints - Anthony Burrill

26 letters of the alphabet, plus an ampersand (‘&’) taken from Anthony’s personal collection of stencils.

Each is screen printed by hand using black ink onto recycled Context 250gsm paper, 50x70cm, signed by Anthony in an open edition.

Anthony: “For this collection of screen-prints I’ve selected my favourite letterforms from my collection. Stencils from afar afield as Los Angeles, Mexico, Portugal and France rub shoulders with locally sourced examples from my home town of Rye. When screen-printed at a large size we can examine forensically their individual character and evidence of years of work. This patina of age reminds us of their primary use, as components to communicate important messages.”
